Professional Holiday Light Installation in Henderson, Nevada

Hanging holiday lights is a ladder job, and plenty of homeowners would rather not climb it this year. Dave handles it himself. He walks the front of the house with you, plans where each strand goes and which outlet it runs to, tests every strand on the ground before it goes up, and clips the lights along the roof edge and eaves from a ladder set on firm, level ground. Trees, front-door garland, wreaths, and yard decorations get done in the same visit. Cords are routed so nobody trips on them, and a timer turns the display on at dusk and off at night. After the holidays, we come back, take it all down, and pack it so next year starts with lights that work.

Henderson Local Expertise

Many Henderson homes have tile roofs and stucco walls, which changes how lights go up. Tile cracks under foot traffic and stucco chips when it is drilled, so clips and hooks matter more here than in places with shingles and wood siding. Sprinklers that keep running into winter can soak a cord connection on the lawn and trip a GFCI, and many HOAs set dates for when decorations go up and come down.

Our Services Include:

Send Photos or Call

Text photos of the front of the house, the trees you want lit, and where your exterior outlets are. Tell us whether you have lights already or are buying new ones.

Price Before We Start

We confirm the rooflines are single-story and reachable from a ladder, plan the outlets and timers, and give you a clear price for the install and the takedown.

3

Test, Hang, and Plug In

We test each strand on the ground, clip the lights along the roof edge and eaves, wrap trees, set the decorations, and run everything to existing GFCI outlets on a timer.

4

Takedown After the Season

We remove the lights and clips, coil and label each strand by where it hung, and pack everything for storage in your garage.

Rooflines, Eaves, and Trees

Most displays start along the roof edge and the eaves at the front of the house, because that is what the street sees. We run the lights from a ladder, one section at a time, clipping each bulb or strand to the gutter lip or roof edge so it hangs straight and evenly spaced.

Trees are wrapped trunk first, then the lower branches that can be reached safely. Tall palms and anything growing near the power lines that feed the house are not, and we will leave those out of the plan. Wreaths, garland, and yard decorations round out the visit, and inflatables get staked down so a gust does not send them into the street.

Clips, Not Nails

Nails, screws, and staples leave holes behind long after the lights are packed away. In fascia, those holes let water into the wood. In stucco, they crack the finish. In a roof, they are a leak waiting for the next storm. Staples are also a hazard on their own, because a staple driven through a light cord can cut into the wire.

Plastic light clips do the same job without the damage. They grip the gutter or the roof edge and hold the light upright, and they come off with the lights in January. On stucco walls where clips have nothing to grip, we use hooks made for the surface. Even the right adhesive hook can lift paint when it comes off, so we place them where a small touch-up would not show.

Outlets, Cords, and Timers

We plug into the exterior GFCI outlets you already have, usually at the front porch, the garage, or the patio. GFCI protection matters outside, because it cuts power when current leaks to ground through water or a damaged cord. We use cords and timers rated for outdoor use, keep connections off the ground, and do not plug more strands end to end than the manufacturer allows on the box or tag.

If you want lights somewhere there is no outlet today, such as an outlet up under the eaves or out in the yard, that is new wiring and goes to a licensed electrician. A GFCI that trips every night is usually water in a connection or a damaged strand, and we can track down the strand or connection causing it. If the outlet itself is worn out, our basic electrical service replaces it like for like.

Holiday Lighting Safety Tips

Before anything goes up, check every strand. Throw out any set with cracked sockets, frayed or pinched wire, or a loose plug, and only use lights and cords marked for outdoor use. Do not run cords through doors or windows where they get pinched, and keep them out of walkways and away from sprinkler heads.

If you hang lights yourself, set the ladder on firm, level ground, keep three points of contact, move the ladder instead of reaching, and have someone hold it. Stay off the roof. Keep ladders and lights well away from the power lines that feed the house. Put the display on a timer so it is off overnight and while you are away, and feel the plugs and connections the first few nights. Anything warm to the touch should come down.

What Holiday Light Installation Does Not Include

We are a handyman, not a licensed contractor or electrician. We do not walk on roofs, hang lights on second-story rooflines or roof peaks, add outlets, or run new wiring for lights. If part of your plan needs a holiday lighting company or a licensed electrician, we will tell you on the first call.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does holiday light installation cost?

It is quoted per job. The price depends on how many feet of roofline and eaves you want lit, how many trees and decorations are on the list, and whether we are hanging your lights or lights you are buying new. Send photos of the front of the house and a count of your strands, and we will price the install and the takedown before we start.

Do you hang lights on two-story homes?

We hang lights on single-story rooflines and eaves that can be reached safely from a ladder. We do not walk on roofs, and tile roofs break under foot traffic. Second-story rooflines and roof peaks need roof access or lift equipment, and a holiday lighting company is the better call for those.

Will you put nails or screws in my roof or stucco?

Not where it can be avoided. We use plastic light clips that grip the gutter or the roof edge, and hooks made for the surface they go on. Nails and screws leave holes in fascia and stucco long after the lights come down, and a hole in the roof is a leak waiting for the next storm.

Can you add an outdoor outlet for my lights?

No. We plug into the existing exterior GFCI outlets and use outdoor-rated extension cords and timers. Adding an outlet on the eaves, in the yard, or anywhere there is not one today is electrical wiring for a licensed electrician. If an existing GFCI outlet is worn out, replacing it like for like is part of our basic electrical service.

Do you take the lights down after the holidays?

Yes. Takedown is half the job. We unclip every strand, coil it so it does not tangle, label it by where it hung, and pack it in your bins for the garage. You can book the takedown when you book the install.

Does my HOA have rules about holiday lights?

Many Henderson HOAs do. Common rules cover when decorations can go up, when they have to come down, and what can be attached to the house or placed in front yards. Check your CC&Rs or ask your manager before booking, and plan the takedown date around the rule.
